My first crash the other morning.
A car in the right hand lane of a dual carriageway without indicating, turns left across my lane
I brake, but not fast enough. The car loses a wing mirror and I get bruising down my right arm
"I'm sorry. I didn't see you."

Hey Dreamer, sounds like you've been bitten by a common bug. Cars turning in front of you are one of the most popular ways for a cyclist to collide with a car.
After riding in traffic for many years, I've gotten to where I assume no one can see me and everyone wants to turn in front of me.
I like your upbeat tone. If making the world a better place is your dream, your website is the reality.
hi Dreamer! Welcome to the Lewisham blogosphere. Sorry to hear about the crash; I'm a cyclist too, although I limit it to once a week because ironically I find it quite stressful! Jett's got the right idea - assume the worst and you can take evasive action if you are lucky.
Hi Jett. A couple of bruises and a shock have been salutary reminders for me. I've been much more cautious since this bump. And your's is good advice.
Hello knit nurse - I'm learning that there is a much wider Lewisham blogosphere that I'd ever realised. Lots of activity, lots of great blogs and after 12 years here I'm learning much more about Lewisham.
Cycling is my number-one way to beat stress, but clearly I need to improve my technique.
:)
